Laois Chamber Alliance President’s Lunch, held on Thursday 27th November at The Killeshin Hotel, Portlaoise, has been hailed as a hugely positive and uplifting gathering, bringing together over 80 business leaders, community partners, and supporters of Laois from across the county and beyond.

With a full room of Laois businesses, key stakeholders from education, public bodies, hospitality and local government, the atmosphere was one of celebration, connection and commitment to the future of Laois.

The inspiring address from newly elected President Dr. Michelle Byrne spoke authentically about the value of shared knowledge, meaningful partnerships and local pride. Reflecting on the strength of the Chamber’s network she reiterated past President Fiona Hylands sentiments about the value of Chamber membership, “Being part of Laois Chamber Alliance means you are not in business alone.”

Speaking about her role as a GP and how this perspective transfers into leadership, Dr Byrne emphasised the importance of wellbeing, collaboration and confidence in shaping a thriving economy in Laois. She acknowledged the collective ambition within the room and highlighted the Chamber’s role in future proofing Laois while supporting its members.

CEO Jackie Carroll also addressed guests, underlining the Chamber’s commitment to delivering strong value for members, showcasing Laois on the national stage, and advancing strategic projects to support enterprise, tourism and workforce resilience.

Guests enjoyed a networking reception followed by lunch and an insightful conversation between Pat McDonagh, Founder and CEO of Supermac’s, So Hotels and the Plaza Group, and Caroline Lydon, CEO of Laois Partnership. Their discussion was relaxed and informative, it offered valuable business insights, reflections on regional development challenges, and stories of tin foil on fuse boxes to keep the lights on after the Pope’s visit to Ballybrit.

The Chamber extended its sincere thanks to our members for making the event such a success.

Businesses and organisations who are not yet members are warmly encouraged to join in with Laois Chamber Alliance and become part of a network because Together we are stronger for Laois.
