For the locals, we know them all by name and their coffee orders! They seem proud to bring friends, family and visitors into our unusual little shop. We’ve just opened our gorgeous sunny courtyard this summer where you can sit and enjoy old stone walls and country life.A little BackgroundNiav and her Dad purchased the Old Credit Union that had been unused for over 5 years. The building dates back to the early 1800s situated on the edge of an old village square. Before its time as a credit union it was an old drapery store, a pop up bank in the old market days and the mobile library used to visit a few days every month. It has always been a place of business in the heart of the community. The stunning Heywood Gardens (Edwyn Lutyens designed, Italian style sunken garden) are within a 2km looped walk from the carpark there down to the village. There is an outdoor swimming pool in the summer and a new playground. It’s perfect for a family day out in the countryside. The products are mostly local including the amazing coffee, (Craic Coffee) roasted in Stradbally Co,Laois. Apple juice produced from the orchard in Stradbally Hall, G’s Jam produced in the townland of Ballinakill. We have a lot to be proud of here.We love to work with the artists and designers, especially new young businesses and help them to grow their brand by giving them feedback on products, pricing, packaging. It helps to grow their confidence too. We feel that we have really given something special back to our community, getting as much out of it as they do.Our Business philosophyWe’re passionate about what we do. When you open a business with a love for what you do and your community, that light shines out.
