Rural Vagabonds

Rural Vagabonds is a family run business and has operated in the Irish midlands since 2019, initially as a mobile café servicing Hazelhatch train station during weekdays and festivals / private events during weekends. The business transitioned to a stationary business approach during the Covid-19 pandemic with tenures in Naas Retail Park and now, Telford’s Portlaoise. Today, the business has two café units, with a more mobile version servicing event.

The business caters for all groups, sizes, and specifications – with experience at busy events like Electric Picnic to supporting more local engagements like Portlaoise Rugby Club Sports Days and Teacher & Staff Appreciation coffee mornings like Diageo and National and Secondary Schools, Weddings and Hen night events.

What we do

The café offers premium, sustainably sourced coffee with a selection of homemade cakes, toasted sandwiches, and confectionery.

Our team are fully trained baristas, and our units are HSE-approved.

Supporting our business

A large part of our success has been our partnership with a best-in-class coffee roaster, Moyee Coffee. It has enabled us to offer premium level, medium roast coffee that has been a huge hit with our customer base. Importantly, we’ve aligned with Moyee because of their commitment to equity and sustainability throughout the coffee growing and roasting process. The business supports more environmental coffee-growing practices – using the rainforest to nurture growth instead of felling them – and are committed to paying a fair living wage to their staff in Africa. They also drive initiatives supporting gender equality across all parts of the coffee growing and roasting process.

Wherever possible we use Irish suppliers and businesses for our snacks and confectionary goods, this includes Leinster based The Middle Child and Rua.

Public Liability

We are fully covered and can offer indemnity to third parties through our insurance broker.

We are also HSE certified and fully compliant.
